Karl Fischer founded the firm in 1984 and grew it from a small boutique office designing custom single family homes to a firm with large scale projects in Montreal. Marc Rasmussen joined the firm in 2000 after working for a number of years in architectural firms in Montreal. Hamish Whitefield joined the firm in 2002 after working in for San Francisco . In 2006 Marc Rasmussen and Hamish Whitefield became Associates in the firm and began to help run and grow the office. Together we have successfully completed numerous projects small to large in Montreal and Toronto. In 2017 the firm was renamed Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects (FRW Architects). We put a client first approach to our projects and like to collaborate with our clients to ensure the highest quality of development and architecture can be achieved. We specialize in ground up design of new buildings, restoration of existing historic buildings, planning, zoning /code analysis, and guiding projects through various municipalities.
